We are looking for a freelance "Consultant (m/f/d) for the assessment of climate risks in transition and quality assurance" for a short-term project for our client in the energy sector.
Start: September/October 2025
Duration: 2 weeks
Location: Remote
Our client is seeking an experienced professional to assist with the assessment, evaluation, and quality assurance of transition risks related to climate change. The focus of the role is to validate an existing approach, ensure its methodological soundness, and confirm that it complies with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and validate an existing transitional climate risk assessment framework and methodology.
Conduct quality assurance to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of results.
Identify methodological gaps, data limitations, and improvement opportunities.
Advise on alignment with TCFD, NGFS scenarios, and relevant EU/UK regulatory requirements.
Provide feedback on the integration of climate risk into ESG and enterprise risk management frameworks.
Prepare and present findings and recommendations to business and risk stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven track record in transitional climate risk assessment within the energy, utilities, or commodities sectors.
Strong knowledge of policy, regulatory, and market drivers affecting the energy transition (e.g., EU Fit-for-55, ETS reforms).
Familiarity with climate scenario analysis (NGFS, IEA, IPCC) and related modelling tools.
Experience with quality assurance / independent validation in climate or ESG risk contexts.
Understanding of energy trading risk management and how transition risks impact trading portfolios.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to critique and improve methodologies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
Business English language skills are mandatory.
Desirable:
Experience working with ESG risk integration in financial or trading institutions.
Exposure to sustainability reporting and disclosure standards (e.g., CSRD, ISSB).
Prior consulting experience in short-term, high-impact climate/ESG projects.
